Governance & Formal Nevada ECAC Structure:

The Nevada ECAC provides a formalized state advisory council through which agencies and entities work to strengthen state-level coordination and collaboration among the various sectors and settings of ECCE
programs in Nevada.

In 2009 the Council was established by executive order of the governor and was signed into statute in 2013 to promote better alignment and cross-agency coordination related to Nevada’s early childhood system. Membership of the council includes a diverse group of business, community, education, government, non-profit, parent, and provider representatives that are appointed
by the Governor and which follow the Head Start Act requirements for State Advisory Councils.

The Council serves as the coordinating body for this strategic plan and is guided by the work and decisions of three subcommittees. The Nevada ECAC and its subcommittees conduct monthly and bimonthly meetings that involve additional stakeholders representing ECCE within the mixed delivery system.

The Council’s Subcommittees are:

  • Executive Leadership
  • Systems Alignment
  • Communication and Engagement
  • Policy and Finance
  • Data and Evaluation

In addition to this state-level governance, community representatives from various regions have also formed councils to continue their own work through local ECACs. These regions are represented by the following Local ECACs:

  • Carson City + Douglas ECAC
  • Northeastern Nevada ECAC
  • Southern Nevada ECAC
  • Washoe County ECAC
  • Tribal ECAC
  • Nye County ECAC (Inactive)
  • Tri-County ECAC (Lyon, Storey, Mineral Counties) (Inactive)
  • Churchill County ECAC (Inactive)
